Q1. What inspired you to start your blog?

Jenny: I started Going West as a blog to chronicle my move from Iowa to San Francisco. It was a great way for my entire family to know how it was going. Several months later, I decided to use it as a place to document my outfits. I wanted to push myself to develop my style, and my logic was that if other people were looking, it would be motivation for me to keep posting and trying new things. It's like making a promise out loud to the public - they expect you to keep your word.

Laura: I started OnTheRacks because I was looking for a creative outlet where I could express myself and my love for fashion. My boyfriend got a nice camera for Christmas just before I began blogging, so it was perfect timing and we both found ourselves a new hobby!

Rachel: I started Rachel The Stylish Wanderer because fashion has always been my absolute passion. Teens often ask me about the latest trends and style advice. I was looking for a way to communicate my fashion inspirations so the idea of starting a blog grew steadily.

Q2. What new clothing items are you eyeing this winter?

Jenny: I'm waiting to see what will catch my eye. I'm interested in edgy items for winter/spring, but I find myself buying pieces of color from time to time as well.

Laura: I am moving to New York next month, so what I am really looking for is a giant, warm coat! It is tough to find warm pieces that are still cute and stylish, but I am on a mission. Also, shoes. I am always looking for shoes!

Rachel: I am looking to update my denim wardrobe with printed denim skinny jeans. I am also on the lookout for the perfect Moto jacket that is effortlessly cool.

Q3. What do you enjoy most about blogging?

Jenny: Blogging has introduced me to so many new things. It led to my current job, and more importantly, I met all my friends through blogging.

Laura: I think maintaining a blog pushes you to be creative and constantly try out new things when it comes to fashion. It has made me step outside of my comfort zone! Also, I have met some amazing people through blogging -- both readers and fellow bloggers. I love it!

Rachel: It forces me to be innovative with the clothes in my closet to create different looks. I has led me to new hobbies such as photography, and start my own personal styling business for teens.

Q4. How would you describe your
style?

Jenny: I always thought my style was that hard-edged East Coast and rock 'n roll-inspired aesthetic, but really, it's very basic and clean with a Southern California influence creeping in.

Laura: I usually describe my style as eclectic. I like to mix and match affordable and vintage pieces with an occasional designer splurge!

Rachel: I call myself a "Stylish Wanderer" because I love to experiment with different styles and trends. One day I may feel a preppy Upper East Sider, the next a grungy rock n' roller or hippie. The great thing about fashion is that you can change who you are everyday.

Q5. Who inspires your wardrobe and why?

Jenny: I'm inspired by so many people and designers. Although, I remember my body type is nothing like theirs, and I don't have the money to buy the designers I love. I think I'm also very influenced by rock music. That was definitely my original influence. I always wanted to look like the cool rock chic who went to concerts and hung out with the band all the time.

Laura: I am inspired by so may things! I love to read other blogs and check out fashion magazines and street style photography. I am also very inspired by the beautiful city of San Francisco -- the buildings, art and culture all inspire me!

Rachel: Where do I begin...Rachel Zoe, Olivia Palermo, and the Olson twins are a few of my favorites. Nylon and Teen Vogue are magazines that inspire me. I always read WhoWhatWear online to follow the fashion world closely.

Q6. What do you do when your not blogging?

Jenny: I work full time, go home and work on blog stuff, and then spend time with my dog and boyfriend.

Laura: I work in marketing/social media for an online shopping service full-time. Blogging is just a side project. :)

Rachel: I'm a Senior in high school, work part-time at Nordstroms, eat at gourmet restaurants, take a lot of photos, and hang with friends.

Q7. Who are your favorite designers?

Jenny: I love Alexander Wang, Helmut Lang, and Cushnie et Ochs (plus many more).

Laura: My favorite designers right now are Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Theory, Shakuhachi and My Pet Square.

Rachel: Haute Hippie, Isabel Marant, Alice & Olivia, and Zadig & Voltaire.

Q8. Where are your favorite places to shop?

Jenny: love to shop at Aritzia and H&M. I like to shop at too many online stores. And thrifting in the Midwest is one of my favorite things to do.

Laura: I am a big online shopper and love sites like Shopbop, ASOS, and Net-a-porter. Some of my favorite boutiques in San Francisco are LF on Union Street, Mira Mira, Azalea and My Roommates Closet.

Rachel: I love Topshop, LF, Zara, BCBG, Madewell, Bloomingdales, Nordstroms, and Shotwell (based in San Francisco). I also adore Urban Outfitters, H&M, and Forever 21.

Q9. Are there any trends you are particularly inspired by this season?

Jenny: Tailored pieces (which always seem to be on trend) are what I seem to fall for every season.

Laura: I love that there is so much color! Also very drawn to the 70's inspired trends.

Rachel: The sweet and feminine peplum trend on shirts, tops, and dresses.

Visit to the Benefit Cosmetics Headquarters!!

I had the oppurtunity to visit the Benefit Cosmetics headquarters in San Francisco, a.k.a 'Beauty Heaven.' My good friend Mac Witmer is interning there and she invited me to come visit her at the offices. The bubblegum pink walls, glitzy chandeliers, endless amounts of makeup, and basically girly everything made my jaw drop when I entered. It felt so surreal! On top of that,everyone was so warm, polite, and friendly, and greeted me with a smile on their faces! This weekend I went out and purchased the Posietint Cheek and Lip Stain, and They're Real mascara that Mac mentioned and I fell in love! Mac took me on a tour of the office, and below are the pics! : )

Interview with Mac Witmer

1. Where do you go to school, and what are you studying?

University of California, San Diego. Majoring in Communications and Minoring in Art History. I think it’s extremely important to find the creative balance in whatever academic pursuit you may take. Additionally, by studying art history (or a second study that taps into your creativity), you are able to fully understand the aspects of communications and marketing. Having a background in art or design enhances your visual perception of things and ability to communicate (verbally and through images).

2. How did you get the opportunity to work as a Marketing and PR Intern at Benefit Cosmetics?

I knew I wanted a fabulous internship to come home to for the summer in San Francisco. I also knew that Benefit’s corporate headquarters were based in SF. So on a whim, one cold day in November, I checked the career opportunities page on Benefit’s website. Sure enough, there was a post about a Marketing and PR Internship. Unfortunately, this internship was for the upcoming spring (I’d still be at school in San Diego), but I decided to apply and send my resume in anyway. I whipped up a very creative (if I do say so myself) and Benefit inspired cover letter explaining why I was such a Benebabe and why I’d excel in the position. I also explained how I was not interested in a spring position, but rather a summer position. I proposed that if they’d just take the time to meet me over my winter break… they would not be disappointed. The letter was not a traditional cover letter (it wasn’t nearly as professional nor boring), instead I appealed to my audience—the Benefit gals!

Sure enough, the next day my now boss emailed me setting up an interview during the Holiday break. I immediately began preparing. I researched the history of the company, studied all of the products, and read as many articles/blog posts I could. It is extremely important to do your homework before entering an interview. Additionally, I decided to put my graphic design background to good use. Prior to the interview, I created a large inspiration board of sorts to bring with me. Through InDesign, I showcased my fashion/beauty influences, the blogs and beauty books I read religiously, and my over all inspirations. It was like a visual version of my resume. Moreover, it showed off my graphic design and layout skills (something I like to stress in my resume). I used Benefit inspired colors and images to make it truly represent the brand.

Was this inspiration board necessary? No, but it was an example of my effective marketing skills and was something to leave with the Benefit gals as a way to remember me (other than just an unidentifiable resume). P.S. I splurged and got it professionally printed considering it was a tabloid size layout… totally worth the $3.00!

3. What is a typical day like for you at the Benefit Cosmetics headquarters??

My tasks change daily, that’s for sure! But on any given day… first, I check email (my personal Benefit account and the overall PR account). Then I do a quick check in with the two women I report to and see what the daily projects will entail or the current status of ongoing projects. Typically, I have anywhere from 4-8 “sends” to do in a day. A “send” is a product send to anyone from beauty editors of magazines to makeup artists to celebrities to publicists. A send will consist of either a specific requested product or group of products or we will send them our newest and best. Sends are extremely important for a cosmetic company, because it is one of the best ways to promote products!

After finishing the sends and getting them up in the mailroom, I could do anything from assisting the PR team with the creation and organization of Press Releases for upcoming products and events to keeping tabs on a list of about 50 blogs that we are frequently featured on. This online scorecard of sorts is called doing “editorial.”

Because I balance my time between the Marketing and the PR team, I often also have Marketing projects to work on. These projects can be anything from working in Excel to blogging to assisting in the creation of marketing materials.

As glamorous as sending products to celebrities and browsing beauty blogs sounds, the internship also requires its fair share of “grunt work.” In recent times, I’ve completely reorganized the PR Closet (harder than it sounds). I’ve restocked products in the product closet room (and taken inventory), and at any given hour have been sent on a wild goose hunt through the Financial District looking for a specific pink rubber band! The “grunt work” is definitely worth it though ☺.

4. What is your favorite thing about being a Benefit Intern?

How can I just choose one thing!? This internship has been an amazing opportunity and I am looking forward to seeing my growth within the company—I never want to leave! Benefit is an amazing company because it has a brand culture that cannot be beat. The products are fun, girly, and exciting for a reason… it’s because the people behind them are too! Truly, I work with the most entertaining, smart, and beautiful people!

In addition to my amazing coworkers at Benefit, through this position I have been exposed to nearly every aspect of PR and Marketing. I am learning the difference between the two sectors and coming to find that I prefer one over the other. I am also learning invaluable lessons that can be taught only through work experience (not in the classroom).

And finally, I adore being a Benefit Intern because I adore Benefit products. It’s incredibly rewarding working for and representing a company that you adore and are a loyal customer to.

5. What is your favorite product by Benefit and why?

It’s a tie between two: Posietint Cheek and Lip Stain AND They’re Real Mascara. Posietint is the sister product to Benefit’s first and original product Benetint. It has a pink tint that serves as liquid blush and a lip color! The pink looks very natural and flattering on my fair skin and gives my lips the perfect pop of pink. They’re Real Mascara is our newest launched product and it is easily the best mascara I have ever used. The formula is glossy and long lasting and the mascara brush lengthens and volumizes. After two coats, my lashes look outstanding. More than once I’ve had people come up to me at work and ask if I was wearing false eyelashes to which I responded, “No… They’re Real!”

"The American Dream" Photoshoot

This past weekend I did a photoshoot at my friend Marylena's gorgeous Mediterranean-style home in West Atherton,Ca. My inspiration for the photoshoot was "The American Dream," and this house was calling my name. This magical, one of a kind estate features a sweeping grand staircase, huge stained glass windows, and 22ft high ceilings; a picture perfect setting. The mansion has been visited by celebrities and notables from the technology, film, and publishing industries including Martha Stewart, Bill Gates, Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, Queen Noor, and dozens of others. For the shoot I modeled an old Hollywood inspired dress by the designer Nicole Bakti that I wore to my schools Junior Prom this year. I was fortunate to work with the amazing, San Francisco based photographer Jorge Moreno. He was a joy to work with, we collaborated well, and plan to do many more shoots together in the future! : )

Alzheimers Awareness Club Spreading Holiday Cheer!

I am the Secretary of the Azheimers Awareness Club at Monte Vista High School. Tonight Alissa Anderegg(President), Jane Nho(Vice President), Stephanie Glover, Daniel Glover, and I went Christmas carolling at Sunrise Assisted Living in Danville, Ca. spreading holiday cheer to the elderly! Last month, she sang at a LifeLine for Pets benefit concert, and her story about teens and Alzheimer's was published in the Shriver Report book. She also had the remarkable oppurtunity to speak at The Women's Conference among the most powerful women in the world including Maria Shriver, Oprah Winfrey, and First Lady Michelle Obama. She also walks in honor of those with Alzheimer's at Alzheimer's Association Memory Walks throughout California. While I was sitting in Asal's chair getting primped, I asked her some questions about Make Up, and her journey as an Artist..

1. Where did your love for Make Up come from?
When I was younger I always loved watching my Mom and sisters get ready for parties, and seeing transformations. I was in awe of what make up could do, and the confidence it could instill in a person. In High School I loved doing Before & Afters on my friends.

2. How did your Make Up Journey begin?
I lived in Spain where I had clients, and during my time there I lived with a Spanish family, spoke Spanish, and also worked at a coffee shop which was a great experience. I would do photo shoots and runway shows in Italy, and had a celebrity client in Milan. In the U.S., I worked with Trish McEvoy, Armani, and other lines at Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom, and as a freelance artist.

3. Did you go to Cosmetology school?
I do not have a cosmetology degree, and I've learned by always being ready to try new things and gaining years of hands on experience. I have a great friend in the industry here who has taught me a lot, and I've taken some great make up classes in Europe.

4. What is your Signature Look?
I love a strong smoky eye and making my clients skin appear flawless so their best features stand out. If not flawless, it can be a distraction to what is on the clients face. I love a really bright red or bright pink lip, or even a beautiful juicy nude lip. I love a strong contrast.

5. Favorite Make Up lines?
I use a combination of the best products from different lines. I especially love the pigment of MAC products and the brushes and eye shadow system from Trish McEvoy. I think it's all about picking and choosing because everyone is different and what might work on one person might not work on another. It's all about trial and error and finding the perfect make up that makes you feel beautiful.

At Macy's GLAMORAMA fashion show I was fortunate to meet the Televion Star and Author, Clinton Kelly. Ever since I was younger I've always loved Clinton, watching him on the t.v show What Not To Wear. He was so sweet, down to earth, and I was fortunate to be able to interview him.

1. Where did your love for fashion come from?
Fashion was something I liked and cared about and I wanted to create a good personal appearance for myself and others. I started out in journalism, and worked as a magazine editor and freelance writer, then got recruited for the T.V Show, What Not To Wear.

2. What advice do you have for teens that want to break into the fashion industry?
To focus on education more than just fashion, and to be able to handle yourself in situations. To keep on top of what is going on in the fashion world.

When I went to the Nordstrom Fall 2010 Trend Show I was fortunate to meet, and interview the fabulous Janice Daoud. Janice is currently a Makeup Stylist for NARS Cosmetics that travels within the states and internationally, and also works as a freelance makeup artist in the fashion and entertainment industry. Janice's skill has been seen on the runways of Marc Jacobs where she worked alongside Lead Artist, Founder, and Creative Director Francois Nars. Janice has worked with top Hollywood faces including Carmen Electra, Kim Kardashian, American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino, Essence Attkins, Usher, Supermodel Chanel Iman, Kendra Wilkinson Baskett, and The Pussycat Dolls.

1. What advice do you have for teens that want to break into the beauty industry?
Do extensive research and training, Practice on yourself, your friends & your family, Have a great aesthetic sense, & most of all be passionate about your dream…never give up!

2. Where did your love for makeup come from?
From a very early age, I used to study the pages of Vogue magazine that my mother would purchase monthly. I would read each page and study the fashion and makeup then recreate the makeup looks on myself. It was also then that I discovered Francois Nars, and was inspired by his early work in the fashion world.

3. What sets NARS apart from other cosmetic lines?
NARS is for the modern and independent woman, no matter if she’s 16 or 60 years old. She is free to express herself and make a statement with no rules to follow. There are countless ways to discover who she is or who she would like to become. You can’t say the same for many other lines.

Nordstrom Walnut Creek was humming with 600 women at 7:30 AM for their Fall 2010 Cometic and Fragrance Trend Show this past Saturday! Top make up artists from around the country presented their Everyday, Modern, and Bold Beauty Trends. Kate Somerville, the skin expert to the Hollywood A-List stars, made an appearance at the event. She was so sweet, and I was fortunate to interview her.

1. Where did your love for skin start?
When I was a kid I struggled from the skin disease eczema, so I was always trying to figure out my own issue. I also found watching skin transformations in clients interesting.
2. In your mind what is the perfect Skin Regime for everyday?
When coming up with your skin regime it all depends on your Skin Type, and where you are in your life. It is important to have a good face cleanser, serum, treatment, moisturizer, and sunscreen. It is also important that you wear make up that doesn't have a lot of chemicals in it.
3. What advice do you have for young people that want to break into the Beauty Industry?
It is important that you have a lot of passion because at the end of the day it is a business. It is important to put a lot of effort into your work because if you don't, there is a lot of talent out there and someone else might take your spot.

Project Pink Fashion Show at Westfield Valley Fair!

I had a fabulous time sitting along the runway and watching the Project Pink Fashion Show at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall! The high-energy runway show featured fall fashions from stores in the mall such as Betsey Johnson, Aritzia, Ann Taylor, Franco Uomo, Gap, White House Black Market, and Bananna Republic. Several strong, and brave Cancer survivors spoke out and told their inspirational stories about life, recovery and hope.100% of the event's proceeds went to the American Cancer Society, and celebrities such as Gretchen Rossi, and Slade Smiley came out to support the cause too as cancer has also touched their lives!

Sipping coffee with the fabulous Tony Wang while interviewing him about life as a Fashion Blogger, and being a regular at New York Fashion Week was an eye-opening experience! Read ALL ABOUT the interview below..

1. How did you start out in fashion?
I recognized my love for fashion when I was a Senior in high school. At first when I started out I wasn't serious about it at all. I would design dresses, blog for fun, and interview people in the industry.

2. Have you taken any Styling, or Fashion Classes? Did you believe that everyone in the industry has had to take fashion classes?
No I have never taken any fashion classes, but at UPENN(where Tony attends college) I took a Visual Merchandising class in its Marketing Department. No, not everyone has had to take fashion classes, for instance Ralph Lauren never did. Fashion has many different areas and therefore need people with different backgrounds; from business and marketing people to people who major in english and literature.

3. I know my parents are tough on me for wanting a career in the fashion industry. What was your parents take on it?
At first they were not happy because they wanted me to major in Finance, and they would try to ignore me saying I wanted to be in fashion. For instance, one day my dad asked me if I applied for a finance job and I said no. Even though my parents felt fashion was not an ideal career for me, it made me happy and I pursued it, ignoring the criticism along the way.

4. Where do you get your inspirations from?
When designing clothes I look to nature and space for inspiration. My second clothing collection was armor inspired so I watched Lord of the Rings. I added studs making it edgy with a subtle twist.

5. Sometimes I feel ostracized by people at my school because of my different style. Did you encounter situations where you felt that way?
There was one time where a hater wrote mean things about my blog commenting that I dressed wierd, was boring, and even asked the other readers why they read my blog. When blogging I am always open for cricism but sometimes it gets out of hand.

6. What is it like going to New York Fashion Week?
At Fashion Week everyone is stressed, excited, and there is a mix of every emotion. There are fashionistas, designers, retailers, celebrities, stylists, and PR people trying to make sure designers are getting publicity. There is a lot of intensity and energy, but yet is amazing.

7. Have you ever had an embarassing moment in the fashion world?
I was in the second row of the Narcisco Rodriguez show and there was a lady with poofy orange hair sitting in front of me. I couldn't see anything, and therefore commented to my neighbor that I couldn't see over this lady's hair, then he said to me "that's Anna Wintour."

Ran into Adrien Grenier while I was leaving Ken's Salon! He is soo cute! : )

It all started in an aisle of the Barnes and Noble, Pasadena. My friend Parissa and I were looking for an empty aisle to sit down and read magazines to catch up on our Hollywood gossip. We instantly became starstruck when we stumbled upon Hollywood's infamous hair guru: Ken Paves! His A-list clients include Jessica Simpson, Eva Longoria, Ashley Simpson, Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, and many more. He was so sweet, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to! I told him that I bought new extensions and asked him for some styling tips; he responded by telling us to stop by his salon the next day so he could give us extensions and style them.

When we called the Salon in the morning we were sad to be greeted by an answering machine that indicated the Salon was closed for the day. Of course this didn't stop us from driving to the Salon to check it out. When we got there the side door was open and a stylist greeted us and told us that Ken was busy in a meeting, but she was more than happy to help us. We sat down, and she immediately got to work. She first inspected our hair in order for her to get a feel for what hair types she was working with. Before bringing out the hair extensions, she explained to us the Science of hair care and the PH Scale of protein and moisture. She told us that it is common for people to overly moisturize their hair or add too much protein causing starchy textures. She recommended balancing the two.

I asked Kelly a couple of questions about her journey, and life as a hair stylist, HERE THEY ARE..
1. At what age did you decide that you really wanted to be in this industry? What were your parents reactions, were they supportive?
At 13 years old I decided that hair was my love and wanted to spend the rest of my life doing it. I went to a salon in the mall in Wisconsin where I grew up and asked for an application, and from there on it all started! My parents wanted me to explore every career to keep my options open, but overall they wanted me to persue something I was passionate about and made me happy.
2. What was your "big break" how did you become known?
I took every opportunity, taught all around the country, did things as a Manager, as a Stylist, and everything contributed.
3. I know that teenagers now-a-days have a straigtening and curling iron addiction, including me. What advice would you give teenagers that want to keep their hair healthy?
I would learn to work with your natural texture, and to embrace what you have. It is important that you always keep your temperature low when using an iron of any sort.
4. What advice would you give to people out there that want to break into this industry?
Again, it's all about looking at everything as an opportunity, to always be humble, and to never burn bridges.

The shoot for Styling Class at the Academy of Art in San Francisco has been such a great experience! We worked with professional make up and hair people, and photographers! It was a great experience to see what is was like to run a shoot, and what goes on behind the scenes! It was interesting because at times the shoot was really calm and relaxed mostly when we were doing hair, make up, and wardrobe..but then when we had to go into the photography studio and shoot it got crazy busy and people were running all over the place! I loved doing everything that went into the shoot from choosing the look, then going shopping to find the perfect outfit..going over the poses with the model..to discussing what I we wanted to do for the hair and make-up! It was a great experience for me because I know I want to be a Stylist, but I got a feel about what It's like, and all about! xoTheStylishWanderer

IT's HERE!! Essays, photos, and reports I have done in my Fashion Journalism class!

-One of the assignments my class was given was to read an article about the Academy of Art University, that talked about the Academys journey, and how it has become what it is today. We then had to answer the question "Is the Academy portrayed in a favorable or unfavorable light?" and had to back it up. Here is what I came up with!

The Academy of Art in My Light

The article "Class Act" portrayed the Academy in a favorable light. They made it clear about how they wanted to help their students turn into well-rounded characters, so they required students to take a variety of classes that not only pertained to their major. For example, Fashion Merchandising majors also had to learn how to draw, cut, sew, and drape. The Academy is a very professional school that provides state-of-the-art equiptment that helps draw top-notch teaching talent. Many professionals are drawn to the Academy because it is a distinguished school, so therefore it isn't hard for them to hire qualified people. The Academy of Art has an open enrollment policy therefore it gives all students the opportunity to learn "Art." The Academy is appealing due to its reputation in the fashion and art industry, and assisting students with job placement is compelling to graduates. The Academy of Art helps students bring "new, fresh blood" with a West Coast flair to the shows because of experiencing fashion in a different environment. This is helpful because in order to survive in the industry you need to have creative, new ideas because it is so competitive.

-Another assignment we had to do was to go on www.Trendwatching.com and click on the "current briefing" section and look at something that popped out to you.

The Pros and Cons of Social Networking

When I was on trendwatching.com i clicked on "Current Briefing" and something that popped out to me was an article called "People love to Connect" for the June-July 2010 issue. I choose to read tis article because today social networking is a big part of our generation. I play a role in this "online revolution" so I thought it would be interesting to learn about something I am apart of. Social Networking has made it easy to discover, and stay in touch with others from the constant updates, GPS, and mobile online access. This has also brought on an explosion of dating, networking, socializing, and mingling. Although there is an upside to social networking, there is also a downside. The downside is that for many people it turns into a distraction, and later on an addiction. At schools Facebook, now a house hold name is blocked from computers, but many kids have phones with Facebook Mobile so they find a way to ger on. Because of social networking it has caused people to become so transfixed on a screen instead of the world around them.

The new "it" trend is garters! Who would ever think this sexy accessory would ever leave the bedroom?lol..I actually happen to like this new trend because it is edgy, rebellious, and is the perfect accessory to give an outfit a little sex appeal, and yet be fashion-forward.

I have a new OBSESSION for bike shorts! Lace, mesh, or spandex..they're all good to me! If you are on a bit of a budget and yet want to look fashion forward, dig through your stash of cycling clothes and pull them out! If you think that the shorts by themselves are a little boring, then take your scissors and cut holes in them to give them a "edgy, worn out" look.

From the runways to style icons, the ankle sock trend is making its mark! Wear them with anything, from flats, to chunky heels, to stilettos! Any way you choose you ought' to look fab!

Stop hiding your Doc Martens from the 70's in the back of your closet and pull them out again! Once again this trend has resurfaced and now are being worn by all the hottest, trendiest celebs in Hollywood!

Lately I have run into some new loves..From being around people at the Academy that have similar interests as myself, I have learned from them some rad' stuff! From being up in the City everyday I have taken in its beauty, and just from looking around I have become inspired! From the people, to the streets, to the buildings..and of course the fashion! I have learned that I am SOO NOT a suburb girl, and instead a city girl at heart! From the trips to the fabric store, my classes, and the inspiring people around me I have learned that I have found the place where I belong. I feel that I have taken my determination, drive, and creativity to a different level! Being a teen is all about discovering yourself, and what your about.. Fortunately, I have found myself and know what I want, and won't stop till I make my mark in the fashion world!

Here is the rundown of a "few of my favorite things" in fashion right now..

This cuff is my OBSESSION!! I tryed it on in New York City at Topshop, and fell in love! I love it because it is glamorous, has a touch of bohemian, and yet the studs and spikes that give it a touch of rocker! Basically you can wear it with any look I listed above, which is great because then it will never be sitting in your closet and I'm all about that!

I LOVE the geek chic trend! Whoever came up with it was a genius, because the look is something you think that would never work, but yet works for some reason..As they saw "fashion works in magical ways.."

I LOVE these pants! When I tryed them on in New York City but didn't fit me the best since I am petite. If I were tall I would totally work these out and would pair them with a loose flowy top that I would tuck in, a blazer, and pair of "hot" sandals. You could totally rock these out by going for the geek chic look also!

Beauty and the Beach

Here are some tips, and style essentials that every fashionista needs to look *smashing at the beach!

An old trend that has resurfaced is the Old Hollywood Pin-up trend. I love old Hollywood pin-up girls because they are so chic, yet sexy. I love how they always wear a strong red lip, and then how it pops against their porcelain skin... "stunning." I also love their curled old hollywood hair! Are you ready to rock this look out? you BETTER be, because I ADORE!

I have a new OBSESSION for this sexy, sleek, cut-out bathing suit! This trend is pure AHHMAZINGNESS!! I love how the girl paired it with "bold, make-a-statement" jewlery! This look is "BANANNAS!" as Rachel Zoe says.

Another bathing suit trend is the "fringe" trend. It adds a little edge, and a touch of bohemian! I LOVE!

These big floppy hats are show stoppers! They are so great because they look so chic, and yet block the sun at the same time!

Rachel loves "BIG, make-a-statement, OVER THE TOP" jewlery that include chunky cuffs, lots of bracelets, drop earrings, rings, and a bold necklace. Being the "over-the-top" person that Rachel is, she is wears them all at once, and yet pulls it off!

As we all know Whitney Port is the Queen B of this trend, and knows how to rock them! Move ova' boring ol' tee-shirts! Crop tops are movin' "IN!" Crop tops are the new CRAZE of Hollywood! They are a new spin on the classic t-shirt that I ADORE! What makes me love them more is that they look "banannas" with these shorts! I would recommend picking out ones in solid colors, so then your eyes don't go too crazy. I would also pair them with some bracelets, gladiator sandals or wooden wedges, and a bohemian braid to the side to add some drama..Now I'm loving it!

When I was strolling around "the fashion capital of the world" I couldn't help but notice the new "It" trends...

Everyone in the big apple was sporting these sky high buns. I was like to myself "Is it getting a little bun-ny around here or is it me?"jk lol. I love this new hairstyle! It is so chic, and yet it can be taken many ways. For instance you can make it polished and wear it like J-Lo, or if you are feeling a lil bit' on the lazy side you can just throw it all on top like Keri Russell for an effortless chic look.

Another Trend I noticed on the "New Yawwk hipsters" was scarves! The trend also couldn't have come in a more appropriate time because people want to know what clothing items to invest in and this is DEFINITELY one! They are so great because you can wear them in every season, and yet can add that special touch to a simple outfit like Nicole's below. You can also go the other way and add it into a rocker style outfit like Lindsay. Adding the scarf was a great asset to her outfit because it broke up all the

black, and yet added a hint of glamour.

The "fabulous" Chery Jordan has been in the fashion industry for many years. When she was a teen she was a model, and did many other various jobs in the industry, so therefore she has been through the ropes. I asked Chery about where her love for fashion came from and she said her mother. When she was little she would go to church every sunday and for each time she went her Mom would design, and sew her a new outfit so she never wore something twice. Chery's Mom was such an inspiration to her, and some of the things she taught her was to create her own identity regaurding style. Chery created her own "signature look," very classic but glamorous entailing a black skirt, long black shirt, tights, a fabulous pair of shoes, and large bold "make a statement" jewlery. Chery always wears a red lip, and a cat eye. All in all Chery said "it's all about doing your own thing, and creating your own distinctive style. Yet creating it is so wonderful because it makes you unique, and stand out from everyone else." As a Stylist for Donna Karan, Chery works with many important people in the industry including Blake Lively, Muhammad Ali's daughter, and the famous model Jessica Stam to name a few. For this summer Chery said that bubble bottom, poofy skirts are "in." I also asked Chery what advice she has for teens waiting to go into the fashion industry and she said that it's all about developing your own unique look from head-to-toe, but not going to far from the basics or else it will fail.

What:Owner of Make it Happen Entertainment

DJ Dan C.E described his passion for music since birth. He was inspired by the birth of Hip-Hop and the DJs from the area where he grew up who used to bring their sets out and rock the block. As he became a DJ, he was inspired by some of his best era's DJs and keepers of music, including: Grandmaster Flash, Bambaataa, Red Alert, Jellybean Benitez, Larry Levan, Tony Humphries and Timmy Regisford. As a DJ he was further inspired by his peers to "keep the music alive." DJs such as Sease One, Kid Capri, Brucie B., Spinna and Jazzy Jeff are all his inspirations because they continually reminding me that it's all about the music first. Dan currently has a standing residency at SIP Lounge and at The Skinny, both venues are in NYC. He said the best advice he can give for teens who want to persue DJing is, that "if you have a passion for anything, not just DJing, then pursue it, If that is the thing that will make you happy. Understand that you will make mistakes, but that's ok, because that's how you learn. Failure only occurs if you stop pursuing your passion. Be true to yourself and respect the lives of others round out a great formula for success!"

Molly Crabapple Molly Crabapple is an award-winning artist, author, and the founder of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School Molly’s has drawn for the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Marvel Comics and DC Comics, and has illustrated over a dozen books. With her phenomal talent, she has also drawn giant theatrical backdrops, parade installations, burlesque posters, and has had gallery shows around the world! Molly said she learned to draw in a Parisian bookstore where her pen and ink technique came from hours spent copying Alice in Wonderland and A Tart’s Progess. Today Molly is described by The New York Times as "A Downtown Phenomenom."

I LOVE this outfit! When I picked it out I used Whitney Port as my inspiration. Whitney is all about florals, and loose flowy shirts in nude colors. I then threw in a fedora, and Jeffrey Campbell platforms whichs which I ended up purchasing because I was SOO OBSESSED! Jeffrey Campbell shoes are seriously the BOMB.COM!

Love this shirt it is GORGE!! And it gets better..LOOK BELOW!!

NOW..I know your going nuts! This piece is so great because you can dress it up, or dress it down. For a daytime look pair it with leggings, or cargo pants then some killer shoes such as platform heels! For Night You could still wear it with leggings but change up the shoes. To add some DRAMA throw on some high black pumps & a chic purse! One of my absolute faves is the Chanel classic flip bag which is "Banannas!" Slap on some red lipstick, and do a cateye, and now we're talkin!

Sex and the City 2 screamed FABULOUSITY! I loved the Gorgeous setting of Abu Dhabi, and of course the FASHION; in some cases.. I thought Samanthas spikey red dress was a little out there..and so was Carries J'adore Dior shirt paired with the long purple skirt..On the positive side, Samantha made me crack up because she had anxiety about menopause which she staved off by taking fourty-hormone pills and vitamins/day. When she was not able to take her pills and supplements on the plane to Abu Dhabi she got hot flashes and was eating "hummus for breakfast, and yams for lunch" because it was shown to pause menopause "according to Google." Carrie Bradshaw's apartment was OFF THE CHARTS! It was so chic, polished to perfection, and stunning! I will own an apartment like that one day!ahhhh

One thing that caught my eye were the FAB-U-LOUS shoes! I went BANANNAS! Brian Atwood is my new man! Carrie Bradshaws little purple pumps with a 5 inch heel ran for $800 and SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE!!

I loved Carries turban headwrap! It's a chic twist on the average poolside headwrap. I love love love..
